Simply mierna?

is this a good pregancy prevention
Answer:
I have had it for over 9 months so far so good! I'm very pleased with my choice to have Mirena inserted!
Do you mean the mirena coil? If so, i think they're good. i havea copper coil whcih is basically the same but has less added hormones and i love it!

You dont have to think about it at all, apart from checking every few weeks that its still there, and getting a new one in 5 years (althouigh hopefully i'll be having babies before then, lol!).

the only problem i have with the copper coil (not sure if the problem is as bad for mirena) is that it makes your periods slightly heavier. mine are heavy but over and done with within a couple of days.

Don't listen to the speculation that the reason you don't have babies is that the coil causes abortions each month, its not true.

I've had a STI in the past (through no fault of my own) and my nurse still said it was ok for me, as long as i had no risk of catching another one (ie i don't sleep around and nor does my man)

I would defo recomend them if you're in a secure relationship, you're periods aren't too heavy, and you don't mind having a nurse insert it.

Signs of Miscarriage?

Is a sign of miscarriage having AWFUL cramps and a lot of wetness for a few weeks while still no period. Last year that happened to me and I wonder if that was the case. Everything is normal now.
Answer:
Well, I had these things in the beginning and still am having them in my pregnancy. I had horrible cramps at first, but they are starting to slack off. I also had tons of discharge and still have this. I have been in and out of the E.R. You should talk to your doctor if you think it could be a problem though. You can never be too careful when it comes to a baby. Good luck!
Heavy cramping is one of the signs of miscarriage. Here is information that was given to me about the signs of a miscarriage when I was going through mine...

Warning Signs of Miscarriage (Call doctor, if you have any of these symptoms)

* Spotting or bleeding without pain
* Heavy or persistent bleeding with abdominal pain or cramping
* a gush of fluid from your vagina but no pain or bleeding
* Passed fetal tissue

I would go and get a pelvic examination just to be sure.

Signs of a cancerous knot in your breast?

I found a knot in my left breast and I'm not sure if it is cancerous or not. I am over weight and have had a cyst removed before. This know feels different though. It is kind of tender if I press squeeze it? Any thoughts?
Answer:
Your best bet would be to get it checked by a doctor and/or get a mammogram. I had a similiar problem in my left breast at a pre-mammogram screening. It turned out to be fatty tissue/nodes as I am overweight also. It was tender to the touch. I was scared until the results of the mammogram and ultrasound came back, which they perform if you have suspicious lumps. Now I am careful to perform self breast exams monthly. Good luck.
my though would be for you to get a mammogram to ease your mind about what it is=then go from there
The only way to know if it cancer or not is to go for a mammogram and/or have it biopsied.
Check it out immediately. I never felt a lump and i had breast cancer.
typically cancerous lumps are non painful, but there are always exceptions. you should see your doctor and have a mammogram to be sure.

Side-Effects of taking Anti-Depressants...?

I am taking 1/2 a pill of an anti-depressant to help my Irribitable Bowel Syndrome. I guess I have a nervous stomach, but because it is alot cheaper and less side-effects of the official IBS medication, my doctor suggested I take 1/2 pill of the anti depressnt called Amitriptyline.

What are some changes that I will notice? Besdies not being sick from my stomach?
Answer:
Antidepressants can often cause side effects, and an inability to tolerate these is the most common cause of discontinuing an otherwise working medication.

Side effects of SSRIs: Nausea, diarrhea, headaches. Sexual side effects are also common with SSRIs, such as loss of libido, failure to reach orgasm and erectile problems. Seratonergic syndrome is also a worrying condition associated with the use of SSRIs.

Side effects of TCAs (tricyclic antidepressants): Fairly common side effects include dry mouth, blurred vision, drowsiness, dizziness, tremors, sexual problems, skin rash, and weight gain or loss.

I suffer from IBS too but have never been offered an anti depressant to help. I take a product called mintes, the mint is meant to soothe your tummy and it does work for me..but if im desperate and have no mintec then i just suck on some normal mints..personally i prefer spearmint

Good luck
Amitriptyline, aka Elavil, is only designed for use over the short term, it is highly addictive, so be careful in it's use. As for your irritable bowel syndrome, have you tried Bentyl? I find it very effective in controlling mine, and it is safe to use over the long term. (it is also inexpensive)
Elavil can give you dry mouth, it can increase your appetite, it can make you very sleepy and tired during the day.
Hmmmm. Well, I took amytriptyline for many years, although it was being used as a preventative for migraine headaches. It didn't provide much help, by the way.

I've been on one antidepressant or another for about 30 years. I'm female. My desire for sex is the same, however I haven't had an orgasm in at least 5 years ... maybe 10.

It makes me a little sad to have this side effect, but I suppose I'm willing for the tradeoff. I don't want to jump off a skyscraper anymore ...

It doesn't sound like you are taking enough to see any side effects.
I took elavil to help prevent migraines and it just made me really tired but anti depressants act differently on everyone. I take levbid (hyoscymaine sulfate) for my IBS and have had no side effects and is less than 15 bucks a month

Side effects of glucophage?

Are leg cramps a possible side effect of Metformin/Gluchophage?
I am on Metformin/Glucophage. I have been getting 2-3 severe legs cramps per night around my ankles, and calfs so severe that I have to get out of bed and walk around. Could this be a side effect of the glucophage? I have been taking it for six weeks now. Anything that could help the cramps. My legs are still sore.
Answer:
Hard to tell what is causing the leg pain, but this is the warning that is included with the Metformin:

Metformin may cause a severe and sometimes fatal condition called lactic acidosis. This condition has usually been reported in diabetic patients taking Metformin who also had significant kidney problems and multiple medical or surgical problems, and were taking other additional medicines. The risk of developing lactic acidosis may be increased in the elderly and in those who have serious kidney problems, congestive heart failure, low levels of oxygen in the blood, or poor circulation. You should not take Metformin if you have low levels of oxygen in the blood, if you are dehydrated, if you have a severe infection (eg, sepsis), or if you have liver problems. Your doctor should monitor you closely while you are taking Metformin , especially if you are elderly and have decreased kidney function. You should not begin taking Metformin if you are older than 80 years of age unless lab tests show that your kidney function is not decreased. Avoid excessive amounts of alcohol while using Metformin . Before you have any medical or surgical tests or procedures, tell the doctor that you are using Metformin .

Tell your doctor immediately if you experience symptoms such as general feeling of discomfort, muscle pain or tenderness, trouble breathing, increasing drowsiness, unusual stomach distress, feeling of being cold, dizziness, or slow or irregular heartbeat.

This does include muscle pain, so I would check with your doctor about it. The link this came from:

Good Luck!

Side effects of bc finally catching up to me?

i started on aviane close to 4 months ago (just started my fourth pack). about a week into the 3rd pack i had sex for the very first time. we used a condom as well as me being on the birth control. but 2 days later i started feeling really sick to my stomach. nauseous and cramping. i did get my period on the day it was due and it lasted the normal length as well. but ever since 2 days after i had sex i have felt sick. even up until today. just nauseous all the time. i took 3 pregnancy tests (one at home, one at the doctor's and one at planned parenthood) which were 4 days spaced apart after my 'menstral cycle' was done for the month, and they all came back negative.

i'm wondering if the side effects of the pill take this long to kick in. the first 2 months i felt fine, but now i just feel completely nauseous. does anyone have any input?
Answer:
It could be that you were/are nervous about getting pregnant, sometimes being nervous, excided, upset, etc can make some people nauseous. Try to relax, take a vacation, read some books you enjoy, exercise.
yes, side-effects can take awhile to set in. there is actually no set time it takes, it can vary.

Side effects from weight loss on birth control?

I'm on Yasmin and am underweight. I've lost about 5 pounds in the last two weeks and experienced some side effects such as acne and cramps, and on Wednesday I actually started a light period which is still going on at the same rate even though my period isn't supposed to start until Tuesday. I'm still taking the pills and am seeing my boyfriend on Monday. So, I was wondering if eating more over the next two days would stop this. Thanks.
Answer:
the hormones in birth control often off-balance your normal hormones which can cause a person to over eat or under eat, depending on the person. keep on taking it and do try to add an extra 100-200cal on a day to make sure you maintain a healthy weight. if that is not enough after a month of doing that rev it up another 100.
I went on birth control (Loestrin) in March. By April, I was suffering from severe depression brought on by the hormones in the pills. I am now off the pills and on antidepressants. I will NEVER again go on those damn pills.
