Skipped period!! Is this normal for a teen?

Well I've had my period since I was 13 and I've never skipped a cycle. I didn't have my period for a month already. I've been through a lot of stress lately. I am overweight so I have started dieting and doing some exercise. Is this normal since I've just started to be on a diet?? Or does the exercise have something to do with it?? Or both??
Answer:
If you've been sexually active, then yes, you should take a pregnancy test.

But all the things you describe: low-calorie diets, heavier exercise, and stress can all delay your period. If you miss more than two periods, call up your doc to get checked out... you want to have at least 1 period every three months. But few women have 100% regular cycles all their lives.
Well it is actually very normal. your cycle can mess up b/c of change in diet and/or stress.. if it continues..or your REALLY concerned just go to a doctor or ask your mom.
It could be the diet and exercise. You didn't say how old you are now, but if you haven't had your period for that long, you're more likely to be irregular. And of course, if you're sexually active, you could be pregnant.
its cuz of your dieting and stress. It's normal. When i was 16 i went on a diet, didnt have a period for 8 months! I wasn't pregnat or anything sometimes your body does that. I had never skipped either. dont trip.
It is normal to skip or be late. Every reason you stated can cause missed periods. As long as you aren't sexually active I wouldn't be over concerned about it.
All those can affect your period.
Stress, dieting, and exercise.
Also teens tend to have irregular periods.
Missing your period would be a cause of stress if you have been sexually active.
Its alright. Im a teen to and i just skipped mine. Im really stressed right now too and that can really delay your period. So just calm down. Its okay.
everything that you are doing right now are all the main reasons of why you might skip one.
-excersize
-dieting
-stress
all the reasons, so i guess that would be normal, but I suggest seeing a doctor, just in case.
usually when you are doing some type of exercise it delays your period and the dieting your body isn't used to it so that could be a problem to but everything is normal
Stress can be very relative to this situation. See one of my neices has been very stressed out latly. She has not been eating very often (eating minimal amounts, skipping meals), a huge amount of stress and pressure has been put across her shoulders (of the situation i cannot speak of). She has not had a period in 4 months. You see, perhaps your change in diet, eating a lot lighter, has impacted the message between your reproductive system and the rest of your body. This happens to many women who have been under a large amount of stress and pressure. What you need to do to help this is each day for about 5-10 minutes, is sit down in a comfortable chair, or whatever suites you. Now, take a deap breath in through your nose slowly imagining the air molocules fillling your lungs. breath out, imagineing the air molocules entering the outside. Relax. Then eat a balanced diet. It's not exacly a good thing to go on a diet. Just a balanced meal only at mean time, without eating in between meals. exersize regulary and get good rest. Good luck, and God bless :)
