Smear!!!?

Is it true that you do not have to have a smear if you have not been sexually active for more than 3 years?
Answer:
NO!
I work in a doctors surgery, and this is not correct! You should have a smear regularly, as it can pick up early traces of cancer. You do not need to start having them untill you are 25 now, but if you have been sexually active from an early age - then its recommended that you are seen earlier. Good luck!
No.
No definatley not
no.....the rule is by the age of 21 or within 3 years of becoming sexually active
depends on how old you are and what region you live in itook me 5 years of letters and moving 2 a different area to go and have one i was scared it was nothing when i had it done couldnt believe all the fuss i had made of it,if your 25 before november and you live in the westcountry your be called for one
no! u can still get cancer n stuff without having sex!
No this is not true. you should be having regular smears roughly every 3 years.
i don't know i am not sexually active
no you need to start either when you become sexually active or when you turn 18 (which ever comes first) and then you need to get it every 3 years!
u need to do it only if u r not virgin. as a virgin if u go for test u loose ur verginity... %26 it is quite uncomfortable
Not at all, once you become sexually active it is very important that you have regular smears .

Check out www.jotrust.co.uk for more information on the impotance of smears.
No, not true at all.

Never, ever miss a smear. My mother had a hysterectomy at 32 due to cervical cancer - would never have got that far if she'd had a smear test.
I think the letters the doctors say on it is that it is not as necessary to have a smear until you are sexually active, however, I would suggest you take up the opportunity
On my gynae placement (I'm a student nurse), there were 2 girls, mid twenties who died within days of each other following cervical cancer.
It depends where you live as to when you go. For example, in England, you have cervical smears for the age of 25, but it is 20 in Wales
